Introducing the Microdust pro - History Casella London Limited first started producing a real time dust monitor in 1989, named the AMS950 (Aerosol Monitoring System). Since that time, the product has undergone many changes, most notably the introduction of the Microdust in 1998. Casella CEL Limited are pleased to be launching the new Microdust pro – an exciting new product for the occupational health and real time dust monitoring market.
The above photographs depict the predecessors of the Microdust pro. At the left is the 1989 model. In the middle is the 1994 model and at the right is the 1998 model. The new Microdust pro can be seen on the next page (FAQ) at the bottom. The Microdust pro is a natural progression from its predecessor and incorporates many new and innovative features. For example, it is the only hand-held real time dust monitor on the market capable of graphically presenting variations in dust concentration on a real time scrolling graph – no longer is it necessary to wait to analyze results on a PC. Below is a thumbnail image of the new Microdust pro; please click on image for a larger version. A large graphics LCD display has been combined with the power of a microprocessor to provide a user friendly interface with clear and versatile presentation of data and menus. The Microdust pro represents probably the most versatile real time instrument available with an incredible measurement capability from 1m gm-3 to 2500 mgm-3 in one compact and easy to use instrument. Recent advances made by our research engineers have refined the optics within the probe, offering improved performance and stability with the near forward light scatter technique employed. The photo below shows the Microdust pro in use; click on the image to make it larger. Unlike previous versions, the pro now features software calibration routines for zero and span calibrations which eliminate the need for manual adjustments and trimming tools. Up to 4 user defined, memory backed up calibration routines are also available for differing dust types. The pro also features the option of alkaline or rechargeable cells with internal fast charge circuit, comprehensive datalogger providing over 15,700 data points and new 32bit WinDust pro software.
